About the NZCF
a. The New Zealand Cadet Forces were established under the Defence Act 1971 and comprises of the Sea Cadet Corps, New Zealand Cadet Corps and the Air Training Corps. The Cadet Forces are a community-based youth training organization aimed at teaching leadership, comradeship, self-confidence and citizenship to both boys and girls between the ages of 13 and 18 years of age.
b. Community support is through the Sea Cadet, Cadet Corps and the Air Training Corps Association and PARENTS. The Ministry of Defence assists to the extent necessary to preserve the special military character in the organization. It is the Units Support Committee, consisting of Parents and supporters , who see that the local Units have what they need.
AIMS OF THE NEW ZEALAND CADET FORCES
a. To provide a challenging and disciplined training enviroment.
b. To promote an awareness and appreciation of the armed services and the role they play in our community.
