Training the youth of today for tomorrow

General Information - May Week 3

Western Bay of Plenty Cadet Unit - Information Newsletter

Exercise Bravo:

We had a good turnout to Exercise Bravo. The weekends activities included:

  • Shelter Making
  • An attempt at cooking (There were some interesting meals created)
  • Observation
  • Leadership and Team Building

Some cadets were even brave enough to go down the river on a raft on the cold Sunday morning.

Remember: We want to know what you liked about camp and what you didn't like and you can post this information on the website. What will then happen is we can look back on this information and base our ideas for our next camp on the things you did like. There is a possibility that the NCOs may be planning a camp for next term so give us your feedback.

Hauraki Experience

Last week, a number of names were taken down for Hauraki Experience. Priority does not go to the seniors this year as the focus of Hauraki Experience has changed and is now more about giving cadets experience with the Hauraki regiment rather than leadership based training. We will be deciding over the next few weeks who will be going.

At the moment, the fees for Hauraki could cost about $200 for the week. Please make sure you take this into consideration when applying for this course.

Courses

Over the weekend of Exercise Bravo, cadet that attended were being sixed up for becoming NCOs or even promotion to senior ranks. There were a few cadets that stood out as being potentially good NCOs. Nominations for the upcoming courses have closed but be sure get your nominations in for the next course which will be in the Septmber holidays. Note that this will also be around the time of the skills competition for those that are considering being part of the skills team this year.

Reminders:

Cadets can not go to camp unless they have paid thier years fees. Please ensure that you have your fees paid prior to going to camp.
If you are going to be away, you need to inform your duty NCO and or apply for leave in advance.
