The New Zealand Cadet Forces were established under
the Defence Act 1971 and comprises of the Sea Cadet
Corps, New Zealand Cadet Corps and the Air Training
Corps. The Cadet Forces are a community-based youth
training organization aimed at teaching leadership,
comradeship, self-confidence and citizenship to
both boys and girls between the ages of 13 and
18 years of age.
b.
Community support is through the Sea Cadet, Cadet
Corps and the Air Training Corps Association
and PARENTS. The Ministry of Defence assists
to the extent necessary to preserve the special
military character in the organization. It is
the Units Support Committee, consisting of Parents
and supporters , who see that the local Units
have what they need.

To provide a challenging and disciplined training
enviroment.
b.
To promote an awareness and appreciation of the
armed services and the role they play in our community.
c.
To foster the spirit of adventure and team work,
and develop those qualities of mind and body, which
go to making good citizens and leaders.

During
the year many camps and courses are held, both
locally and nationally, to further a cadets training.
Some of these actives are situated on regular Military
Bases or at other service venues; a high standard
of discipline and personal appearance is expected
at all times.
Cadet
Corps activities may include –
(a)
Weapon training and range shooting
(b) Bush-craft, camp-craft, map and compass skills
(c) Leadership and General Service Training
(d) Radio and communications
(e) First aid and survival training
(f) Attending civic parades (ie ANZAC) and other special
parades and events

All
Cadets are expected to attend all parades, special
events, camps and other activities as required. If
a Cadet is unable to attend, it is a courtesy and
a requirement that the Cadets Section Commander be
contacted and informed of the reason of the Cadets
non-attendance; this ensures that the Cadets files
and records are kept accurately.
Should a Cadet fail to attend three (3) consecutive Unit Parades
without obtaining a Leave of Absence (these can be obtained
from the Orderly Room) they may be discharged from the Unit.
(Note: Extended leave may be granted for exam studies, or other
reasons, upon request in writing or by completing a Leave of
Absence form).
After parades cadets must return immediately to their homes
and are not allowed to loiter about the streets, or go to places
of public refreshment. |
DRESS
AND BEARING & GENERAL APPEARANCE

Cadets
are to confirm with standard NZDF (New Zealand
Defence Force) and NZCF (New Zealand Cadet Force)
Standards and Regulations, this is one of the conditions
of entry.
While a Cadet is in uniform their appearance must be of the
highest standard such as.
(a) Hair
must confirm with service standards.
(b) Clean black shoes.
(c) Clean and pressed uniforms
(d) Clean and trimmed finger nails.
(e) Cosmetic make-up and jewelry may not be worn by Cadets
(female Cadets only may wear plan studs/sleepers in their
ears)
(Male Cadets may not wear any jewelry other than a watch).
NOTE :
Until a Cadet is issued with a uniform, they are
to wear their
School uniform. In the event of a Cadet not having a school
uniform, their appearance and dress must be of a HIGH standard.

Training
is provided by senior Cadets and Unit Staff. A
T.O.E.T (Test of Elementary Training) is given
at the end of each training phase.
A cadet
is to complete Basic 1 (normally in the first year)
before being able to enter the next stage of training.
A pencil/pen
and an exercise book (1B4) must be brought to All
parades and camps where training is being given.

Cadets
are subject to New Zealand Cadet Forces regulations
and discipline associated with the carrying out
of orders, instruction and directives. Minor infringements
of discipline will be dealt with by Unit Staff.
Serious matters will be dealt with by the Unit
Commander. When necessary, parents will be advised
of any matters that may require their personal
attention.
The Unit Commander is always available to discuss any problems
with parents / caregivers.
ALL
CADETS must read the Unit Standing Orders (a
copy of which can be obtained from the Orderly
Room) A plea of non-observance cannot be acceptable
for non-compliance.

No
Cadet is permitted to smoke during any cadet activity.
Cadets are not allowed any intoxicating liquor or drugs whilst
under the control or orders of Unit Staff. Cadets who bring
alcohol or drugs, or are under the influence of any such subtance
at any parade, camp or other Unit event or function will be
liable for instant dismissal. The police will be notified in
any case involving drugs

Any
matter concerning the health of a Cadet should be
brought to the attention of the Unit Adjutant in
writing to ensure the well being of the Cadet. Please
advice the Adjutant of any medication being prescribed
for your son/daughter/ward. A Medical form will be
included in the enrolment pack, which is to be completed
and returned with the Application to Join form (NZCF2).
A health problem does not necessarily mean that the Cadet will
be unable to take part in Unit activities.

Cadets
are promoted to higher ranks after the following
are taken into consideration by the Unit Commander
and the Unit Staff.

A
Cadet is issued with a uniform (when available)
after:
(a) Completing an Application to Join form, and having
(b)
Completed a probationary period of four (4) consecutive
Unit Routine Parades, and
(c)
Have paid the Unit Annual fee.
Uniforms are provided free and are signed for, but they remain
the property of the New Zealand Defence Force. Lost or damaged
uniforms must be replaced by the Cadet at the set rates which
apply at the time. Uniforms being returned MUST BE dry cleaned
or washed where appropriate.
As part of the conditions of entry to this unit, cadets must
provide their own socks and appropriate black boots.
